Author Guidelines

AUTHOR GUIDELINES

Authors who wish to submit manuscripts to Journal of Learning Studies are required to follow these guidelines carefully. Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal's requirements may be returned to authors before entering the peer-review process.

1. General Requirements

The submitted manuscript must:

  • Be original and have not previously been published;
  • Not be under consideration by another journal at the same time;
  • Be relevant to the focus and scope of Journal of Learning Studies;
  • Demonstrate academic, theoretical, methodological, or practical contributions to education and learning;
  • Follow principles of research and publication ethics;
  • Be prepared using the official Journal of Learning Studies manuscript template.

Authors are responsible for ensuring the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their manuscript.

2. Language

Manuscripts may be submitted in English. Authors are responsible for ensuring that the manuscript is written clearly, academically, and grammatically.

Authors whose first language is not English are strongly encouraged to have their manuscripts proofread before submission.

3. Manuscript Structure

Research articles should generally contain the following sections:

Title

The title should be clear, specific, informative, and accurately reflect the main content of the study.

Author Information

The manuscript should include the full names of all authors, institutional affiliations, corresponding author email address, and ORCID ID where available.

Abstract

The abstract should be approximately 150–250 words and briefly describe the background or purpose, methods, main findings, and conclusions of the study.

Keywords

Authors should provide 3–5 keywords representing the main concepts of the article.

Introduction

The introduction should clearly explain the background of the study, relevant previous research, research gap, novelty or contribution, and objectives of the study.

Method

This section should explain the research design, participants or data sources, sampling procedures where applicable, research instruments, data collection procedures, data analysis techniques, and ethical considerations.

Results and Discussion

Results should be presented clearly and systematically. The discussion should interpret the findings, relate them to relevant theories and previous studies, highlight the contribution of the research, and explain its implications.

Conclusion

The conclusion should summarize the main findings, answer the research objectives, describe relevant implications, and, when appropriate, provide recommendations for future research.

Acknowledgments

Authors may acknowledge institutions, funding organizations, research participants, or individuals who contributed to the research but do not qualify for authorship.

References

References should contain only sources cited in the manuscript.

4. Tables and Figures

Tables and figures must:

  • Be numbered consecutively;
  • Have clear titles or captions;
  • Be referred to in the manuscript;
  • Present information clearly and accurately;
  • Include the source when adapted or reproduced from previously published material.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted figures, photographs, or other materials where necessary.

5. References and Citations

Journal of Learning Studies uses the APA Style, 7th Edition for in-text citations and references.

Authors are strongly encouraged to:

  • Use recent and relevant scholarly references;
  • Prioritize peer-reviewed journal articles;
  • Include DOI information whenever available;
  • Ensure that every in-text citation appears in the reference list and vice versa;
  • Use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, or similar software.

Authors should avoid excessive reliance on non-academic websites, unpublished sources, or references that are not directly relevant to the research.

6. Research and Publication Ethics

Authors must ensure that:

  • The manuscript is original;
  • All authors have made meaningful contributions to the work;
  • All sources are properly acknowledged;
  • Data have not been fabricated or falsified;
  • The manuscript is not simultaneously submitted elsewhere;
  • Any potential conflict of interest is disclosed;
  • Research involving human participants follows applicable ethical principles and institutional requirements.

7. Plagiarism Screening

All submitted manuscripts will be screened using plagiarism-detection software before publication.

Manuscripts are normally expected to have an overall similarity score of no more than 20%, excluding references, properly quoted material, and unavoidable technical terms.

The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject manuscripts containing substantial unattributed similarities regardless of the numerical similarity score.

8. Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial assessment and plagiarism screening will undergo a double-blind peer-review process.

The identity of authors will not be disclosed to reviewers, and the identity of reviewers will not be disclosed to authors.

Editorial decisions may include:

  • Accept Submission;
  • Revisions Required;
  • Resubmit for Review; or
  • Decline Submission.

The final decision regarding publication rests with the Editor-in-Chief based on reviewers' recommendations and the journal's editorial standards.

9. Manuscript Submission

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the Journal of Learning Studies Online Journal System (OJS).

Authors must register and log in to the journal website before making a submission.

All required metadata, including the authors' names, affiliations, email addresses, article title, abstract, and keywords, must be entered accurately during the submission process.
